He Has Risen!

DNR-Do Not Resuscitate-- a difficult decision many families have to make in behalf of a loved one. As parents of one who was in a vegitative state all of his teen years, we opted not to have signed one hoping Godly inspiration and intervention would appear. Our decision paid off--our youngest teen has been resurrected!

From his office cushion to cushioned soles, he has been pounding the pavement for several weeks now and joined the Ralston Valley High School Cross Country team on Tuesday. What be the motivation you ask? When we learn the answer, I will let you know because we are clueless. It made sense that perhaps it was a young sophomore cutie that was faster than he and could provide motivation, but that has been ruled out. Interesting enough, this white boy can run. In only his second 3 mile effort, he was running sub-8 minute miles while his dad still lumbers at sub-10 minutes downhill and with a tailwind. Although in one 1 mile run, I came in a close last place (there was only 2 of us),about 14 seconds behind. And yes, he was sneaking a peek back at me to make sure he could outlast me. He cant actually compete until he has met their practice criteria, but that will be soon.

Oh darn us, we almost made it through two high school experiences without attending a sporting event :).

Til next time...
