DOMINATION

The 10 point victory did not accurately represent the clear dominance of the Boys over the Pack last night. We totally had a great time with our friends in Colorado Springs who provided the grilled burgers and most importantly, the NFL Network! We will return to the Springs in the near future to enjoy a playoff game. 11-1 and marching on to the Super Bowl!

YIKES

Second day on vacation and I have hurdled into pre-retirement mode. First sign, there is a puzzle on the card table--oh clearly the AARP newsletter is on its way. Second, we went out to lunch and shared entrees. Next, we shopped for some new reading glasses for me. I caught a 30 minute nap. Finally, I read my latest book, Amish Grace (stellar read), for half an hour. At least the TV wasn't on The Weather Channel.....

3....

....weeks off! How sweet it is...I return to work December 18th...

My main goal is not to annoy the wife. Day one complete and I have survived to type about it. For the first time in over 2 years, the Chevy pickup has a wax job as I loitered in the garage for a couple of hours. The garage is a safe haven for me as Teri won't venture out there much other than to dump the trash.

Tuesdays is Cameron's only day off as all the others are committed to work and school. So, I waited for him and he ended up meeting Austin at the gym and then picked up Austin's tab as they dined at Chili's for lunch. I guess he forgot about who is funding college tuition :) . I called him and he was closet cleaning, bringing over 2 garbage bags worth of clothes. He says 1/3 will go to Austin, 1/3 to donate to the Thrift store and 1/3 to list on Ebay. Ebay funds will probably go back to clothes replacement as his 6ft2 165 lb wardrobe no longer fit his 6ft5, 205 frame!

Cam just pulled up, so let the clothes sorting begin....

CAMERA-ON

Mr Adventurer Cameron decided to play hooky from church and opted go heavenward with his friend Eric, before heading off to work at his refueling job. With his camera always with him, he shares his day with you from sunrise to sunset. Click on the images and enjoy!

EASY

Two weeks ago, Cameron surprised me with an invite on a 'difficult' rated trail, and it did not disappoint..yesterday, him and 2 friends went up above Nederland, west of Boulder. When I asked what level he was challenging, he said it was an 'easy' trail. What is up with that??? He tries to kill his dad, but takes the gravy route with his manly-man friends.. He must have read our will or something....enjoy his photos...

UP/DOWN

The life of a 16 year old can be adventurous! Austin FINALLY tested for his driver's license yesterday afternoon, a mere spin around the neighborhood and back in five minutes--passed!

This morning, he had 8AM CAT Scan for some on going lymph node swelling that started back in June that he self-discovered. Three separate blood testes since early Summer revealed nothing, but to be on the safe side, they wanted to take a look from the inside. Teri said he was quite surprised to see a NEEDLE was part of the process as they had to inject iodine. Procedure went well.

He headed off to school for his solo drive at noon to get some school work done, although he had been called in 'sick' for the entire day as he was to return back to hospital for results followed by a NEEDLE biopsy. First driving experience went well-- his parents and insurance agent appreciate that!

Back for CAT scan results and biopsy at 3pm. LONNNG ordeal, but worth the wait. ENT Dr. came in and said nothing visible whatsoever and explained several causes for the swelling. They then left Austin the option for the NEEDLE biopsy as they didn't feel one was needed. He respectfully declined.

Praising God for the glorious 24 hour period....

LETTER..

We had a great time last night seeing Austin receive his first athletic letter for his accomplishments with the Ralston Valley High School cross country team. Only about 25% of their 30 runners were able to meet the criteria established for lettering. The icing on the cake though was recognizing his academic accomplishments for runners with a GPA between 3.3 and 3.6, which only 4 athletes received!

The awards banquet was held at the Sports Oasis in Broomfield, a converted warehouse into an indoor, sand volleyball arena. In our days they had bowling leagues, nowadays there are volleyball leagues, although I had no idea this kind of venue even existed.

So the big question is what do you do with the 'letter'. Back in the day in the Rio Grande Valley, EVERYONE purchased a letterman jacket and letters were dished out with ease. I believe if you finished school lunches 5 days in a row, you got one. Then, of course, you would wear your letter jacket to every event held for the rest of your life, including your wedding and job retirement party. Up here in cold country, it is not a big deal, as even at the local football game we recently attended, very few students wore them. Oh well, things to ponder...

Fun time, plenty of food and celebration....onto to track in the Spring!

MARSHALL...

perhaps a context you were not aware of, but in Cameron's job it is used quite frequently-
Wester defines it- to bring together and order in an appropriate or effective way... here he is Friday at sunset marshaling an F-18 fighter jet arriving from Atlanta...
